SNUFF OUT

Privacy policy

Snuff Out doesn't have accounts, ads or tracking. Your plan, logs and wins stay on your iPhone. This page explains what does leave it, and why.

In short

  • There's no sign-up, no email and no account.
  • Everything you enter in the app (your habit, plan, logs and wins) is stored on your device.
  • The app sends anonymous usage events, like "finished onboarding", so we can see what works. They carry no device ID and none of your logs or habit details.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple and checked by RevenueCat using an anonymous ID. We never see your payment details.
  • No advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites.

What the app stores, and where

To build and run your plan, the Snuff Out app stores the following on your iPhone:

  • Your habit: brand, strength, pouches a day, price per can, how soon after waking you use your first pouch, and your usual triggers.
  • Your plan: the start date, quit date and approach you chose, and when you signed your pledge.
  • Your activity: the pouches you log, skips, and Craving SOS sessions with the strength you rated.

This data stays in the app's storage on your device and in the shared space its widgets and Live Activity read from. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else. If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, the app's data is included in that backup under Apple's terms.

Anonymous usage events

The app uses Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service hosted in the EU, to count a few events: onboarding steps, paywall views, purchase steps (including which offers were shown or taken), and when Craving SOS is used. Logging a pouch or a skip sends nothing. An event says that something happened and, at most, which plan or screen was involved. It never includes counts, strengths, brands, triggers or anything else you entered. Aptabase stores no device or advertising ID, and events can't be tied to you or followed across apps.

Notifications and Live Activities

If you allow notifications, the app schedules them on your device: nudges at your trigger moments, plan reminders, an evening check-in, and a reminder two days before a free trial ends. Live Activities and widgets are also created on your device. None of these use a server of ours.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. To confirm what you have access to, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives your purchase history under a random ID the app creates. We don't receive your name, email or payment details. Apple's privacy policy covers your Apple Account.

This website

This site doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising. The free tools run in your browser. Craving SOS keeps a count of cravings you've ridden out in your browser's local storage, on your device only. You can clear it by clearing your browser's site data. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the standard technical information your browser sends with any request, such as your IP address.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to Settings and choose "Delete all my data". This removes your plan, logs and wins from your device. Deleting the app removes everything too. Your subscription isn't affected; manage it in your Apple Account settings. Anonymous usage events and the anonymous purchase record can't be linked back to you, so there's nothing to look up by name or email.

Age

Snuff Out is meant for adults who use nicotine products. It isn't directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects data the app collects, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect.
